Ariston - Greek restaurant in Frankfurt
A Greek affair - there are a handful of world-class Greek restaurants in Frankfurt and the Ariston is, indisputably, one of them.
First of all it is, particularly for trade fair guests in town, fantastically situated - an olive-stone’s throw from the Konstablerwache square and the Zeil shopping street, a 5 minutes direct metro ride or a below 10 minutes taxi drive (for around 12 Euros) from the Messe.
The interior, despite the one or other reference – the charming black and white photo of Onassis and Callas for example – very “ungreek”, more Jugendstil with dark wood, high ceilings, murals and a subdued retro “look” rendering an exclusive, classic and warm atmosphere.
The Ariston is all about Greek “haute-gastronomy”, about inspired, sunny and refreshingly creative Greek cuisine – a fanatic clientele keeps returning and the reviews and press buzz around the Ariston speak for themselves. Guests rave about the mezedes, the sophisticatedly prepared lamb dishes, fish highlights, the delicious desserts. Wines from all Aegean regions loom large on the well-priced list and the competent and friendly waiting team is always at hand with an harmonising recommendation to a specific dish.
The Ariston – also open for lunch when half the Frankfurt’s lawyers pop in for a meal between litigations in the court-house across the street – is good for intimate tête-a-têtes, discreet business dinners or for more jovial and relaxed outings with friends and colleagues.
The sort of place you can tell your guests that you have “discovered something special” for them.
