Weltkulturen Museum Frankfurt - Museum of World Cultures

Founded in 1904, the museum is a research facility with a unique collection of 67,000 artefacts from Africa, the Americas, Oceania, South East Asia and Europe. The museum also houses a picture archive containing 120,000 photographs, a growing collection of contemporary ethnographic films and a reference library open to the public comprising over 50,000 books and periodicals.

Housed in three villas on the museum embankment, the institution prsents exhibitions, commissions scientists, writers and artists to carry out innovative research projects and develops new systems of art education.

At the World Culture Lab, the museum works on the reinterpretation of objects, prepares events and exhibitions and invites students to join the curators and international guests in their creative engagement with global issues.

The Weltkulturen Museum succeeds in uniting ethnological research, sophisticated artistic practice and experimental methodology. For children, the museum offers children's birthday parties and the Weltkulturen Expolrers' Club.
